Cyprus Yellow Slip: Apply, Move, and Live in Cyprus
The Yellow Slip is the residence registration certificate for EU citizens. It is the official record that you live in Cyprus. This page explains what the Yellow Slip is, why setting up a Cyprus company is usually an easy way to get it, which documents you need, and how the application works step by step.
What the Yellow Slip Is and Why It Matters
The Yellow Slip is the residence registration certificate for EU citizens. It lets you reside in Cyprus on a long-term basis and serves as your official record of residence. EU and EEA citizens who stay in the Republic of Cyprus for more than 90 days in a row generally need to apply for it.
The Yellow Slip has no expiration date for EU and EEA citizens. For people from non-EU countries, it is generally valid for five years. After that, a non-EU national needs to apply to renew it.
With the Yellow Slip, you have broadly the same everyday rights as a Cypriot resident. You can travel to Cyprus, stay in the country, and run your own business.
A Simple Path to the Yellow Slip and Non-Dom Status
A clean and simple way to live and work in Cyprus long term is to set up your own company. This can be a Cyprus limited company or a Cyprus holding company.
The first benefit is that you can become an employee of your own company with ease. This meets one of the main rules for the Yellow Slip: proof that you have a job with a Cypriot company and pay social insurance.
The second benefit is that, once your company is set up and you have your Yellow Slip, you can usually apply for Cyprus non-dom status.
You can read more about the benefits of non-dom status for business owners at Cyprus Non-Dom Status.

Documents You Need to Apply
- Proof that you have a job. If you set up your own company in Cyprus and hold a paid position in it (for example, as director), you usually have this proof in place.
- Proof of a current rental or purchase contract. This can be an apartment or a villa, to rent or to buy.
- Proof of a current utility bill. This lets the authority confirm that the rental contract is for a real home. A simple electricity or water bill is generally enough.
